But there are some hacks to help you freshen things up for less money.

KITCHEN HELPER: Pour a little of the brand-new Bake Off-inspired Fabulosa Lemon Drizzle cleaner, £1 from Poundland, into your washing-up bowl and add boiling water.

It will make your kitchen smell lovely in no time, and disinfect the sink at the same time.

Even better, pop your dirty dishcloths in the water and leave overnight.

They will be cleaned ready for the next day and your whole kitchen will be lovely and fresh.

LIVING ROOM SAVER: Reed diffusers are expensive. But when your bottle next runs out, keep it and fill it with half fabric conditioner and half water.

It really does work and gives the room a clean, fresh aroma.

Pick up Comfort Ultimate Care Fresh Sky Fabric Conditioner for £2.70, down from £3 with a Tesco Clubcard.

BATH TIME: Bathrooms can get a bit grimy, and over time that damp smell sets in.

I recommend cleaning chrome radiators with Fabulosa or Zoflora for a lovely scent but have also discovered the new Febreze bathroom air freshener.

The little pods unleash a huge dose of fresh fragrance and this should last for around 45 days.

Pick up a twin-pack for £2.75, down from £5.50, at Wilko.

CLEANING HERO: The great new Zoflora multi-purpose disinfectant cleaner not only kills off 99.9 per cent of bacteria, it also smells incredible.

I love the Midnight Blooms fragrance for kitchen surfaces and the Lime & Mint for bathrooms — just £2.55 at most major supermarkets

PRETTY PERFUME: Scented candles are always a great way to fragrance a room but can be very expensive unless you shop around for better deals.

Swap Jo Malone candles for the Lime, Basil and Mandarin double-wicked ones from Aldi, which are just £10.47 for a three-pack.
