The tweet, originally posted by user @ThisABurnerFrFr, says: “If you go to Home Depot and you don’t like the price of something, every employee can alter the price of any item up to $50 off without a manger (sic) approval.

“All you gotta do is ask.”

The advice went viral thanks to a TikToker who included it in a list of similar tips, tricks, and hacks from former store employees.

Several people who also claimed to work at Home Depot verified the trick, but cautioned using it.

“I use to work at Home Depot.

“We CAN but don’t have to.

“If I didn’t like you, I wasn’t changing the price on anything,” one person admitted.

“I gave discounts to many sweet, and understanding customers when I worked at Home Depot; if they were rude, I’d act like there was nothing I could do,” another former employee with a similar sentiment commented.

Several others warned that there needs to be a reason to take such a large amount off the ticketed price, such as product damage, extreme inconvenience experienced by the customer, or a competitor store offering the same item at a lower price.

However, one user said she was glad to help out anyone.

“I worked at Home Depot and I would $50 off to anybody who asked for it lol because these companies don’t care about you,” they slammed.

A representative from Home Depot’s corporate communications office reacted to the tip in a statement to The Sun and said it is not “entirely accurate.”

“While associates are empowered to take care of our customers and offer the best customer service, price adjustments are on a case by case basis,” they explained.

PUBLIX FOOD HACK

The popular TikTok, which has been viewed 1.7 million times and counting, also shared a tweet that claims people can save money on fruit at Publix.

A screenshot of a tweet written by @ExcuseMeRants2 read: “Instead of buying pineapples chopped already, you can buy a whole pineapple and take it to the deli and they will cut it for you, save some money.”

The tweet noted that a Publix employee originally revealed the information.

And in a reply to the tweet, the user claimed it has worked several times.

Plus, it has been verified by other supposed Publix employees.

“Can confirm this,” a TikToker who claimed to work for Publix’s produce section for two years commented.

“All you gotta do is ask.”

However, another former Publix worker urged people to just purchase the pre-chopped fruit.

“As a former produce clerk, if a customer brought a whole pineapple to be cut up, when we already have cut up pineapples that I washed, cut, packaged, and labeled, I WOULD BE FURIOUS,” she stated on Twitter.

The Sun has reached out to Publix to verify the tweet.

If you are looking for some more money-saving tips, other employees who previously worked at major companies have shared a myriad of advice online.

For instance, one person revealed how to get enough food to make two separate burrito bowls at Chipotle for the price of one.

Plus, a former Ulta associate shared exactly how to get the most use out of the store’s Ultamate Rewards program.
